The Waterford Institute
The Waterford Institute is a research organization that develops models, programs and software for early childhood reading. They have programs to encourage early childhood reading and math.
Apparently, the organization sells primarily to institutions. This means that the goal of the web site is simply to tell people about the business and not to sell a product. Personally, I wish the web page had more information about the company, its philosophy, goals and products.
Accordingly, the institute has its origins in 1976 as the World Institute of Computer-Assisted Teaching (WICAT Systems, Inc.). The Waterford Institute spun off in 1980 and to develop the Waterford School Model.
The organization boasts several programs including early childhood reading and mathematics programs, which are in use at several locations in Salt Lake, including the Waterford School in Sandy.
The Waterford Institute scores site of the day as the site is aiding in the worthwhile cause of improving literacy. I admit, I found myself wanting much more information available on the site.
