The Walden School of Liberal Arts in Provo includes expeditions into the wilderness along with a liberal arts education inspired by Thoreau and other liberal arts thinkers. This site has some interesting pages. For example the expedition page shows students on an expedition to Oacaxa, Mexico. The expedition includes both learning and a service project.
